Floating picture frames are a break away from the traditional picture frame because it gives the viewer the appearance that the picture is simply floating in between the edges of the frame. The reason that this effect makes the picture stand out so much is because on a normal picture frame, the first aspect of it that the viewer sees is the frame. With a floating picture frame, the first aspect that the viewer notices will be the picture itself.

Of course, there are many ways that you can use floating picture frames, but it is basically a matter of replacing your old standard picture frames with a more eye appealing floating frame.

Family photos are a great place to start. Whether your walls are lined with true family photos, or school pictures of the kids, replacing the old picture frame with a floating picture frame will highlight the people within the photo, making them stand out from the picture frame. You put your family photos on the wall so that they can be admired, so why detract from the photos by placing them into average picture frames that are distracting to the viewer.

Another great idea for using floating picture frames is to highlight special artwork that you, your children, or your friends and family have accomplished. For instance, the hand print that all children seem to make when they first begin school would be an excellent choice. Placing this in a floating picture frame will not only protect the project so that it does not get damaged, but it will highlight the hand print so that everyone will immediately see it when they enter the room.

Collages are another great project that should be accented by placing them into a floating picture frame. When designing these, you can space all of the small pictures out so that they all appear to be floating in seperate sections of the wall. This mind play on the eyes will cause years of talk and admiration from all who see it.

The final use for a floating picture frame is actually not a picture at all. Instead, a college degree or business license that you want to have prominently displayed can be placed in one. This, as with any other picture placed into a floating picture frame, will case the viewer to look at the document, rather than at the frame surrounding the document.
